Quo-tid-i-an-ness _ noun, that which occurs every day. Condition of the human being, subject to the unavoidable rhythm of daily life. In her pursuit of the ordinary, the commonplace, the artist has over several years captured moments from everyday life. A glimpse of this collection is displayed in the praxinoscopes on view. Digital images reimbodied as objects remind us of the miracle of reproduced movement. In their mechanical and electrical fragility, praxinoscopes -like the quotidian- can break at any moment, leaving an inanimate carcass. The projected image is a video sketch that illustrates the artist's research about pedestrian paths and flux in public space. In the context of the current Work in Progress exhibition this piece foreshadows a proposed final device for the Quotidianness piece. A collection of hundreds of anonymous actions are displayed in transparent blocks embedded in the floor of a public square. An external surveillance system is requisitioned to anticipate the path of the pedestrians in order to partially reanimate this 'burial ground' of images. Daily life as lived. Micro film loops. Multiple portraits of repetitive daily life tasks are displayed in one praxinascope each.

Each one is turning at a different speed, according to the action. Variable size installation (from 10 to 100 praxinascopes with a different film each).
